I saw this film at the Auckland Film Festival. Why not 5 stars? My gripe: why did the protagonist try to hoist something up a cliff in the most difficult, guaranteed-to-fail way possible? He seemed pretty sharp and capable, and he had ample tools - why didn't he contrive a pulley out of even the rocks? But of course, trying and failing serves for more (melo)drama but to me seems a bit of a cheap trick. And this wasn't the only time this kind of thing happened in the film (i.e., the ending).
